What is DV-TIDE ?

DV-TIDE™ is a PC-based platform that simulates a cable headend. DV-TIDE delivers MPEG-2 transport streams, interactive applications, and Service Information (SI) to cable devices via RF. DV-TIDE provides a low-cost solution for delivering headend functionality to support development teams, testing groups, and tradeshow demonstrations.

DV-TIDE was designed to make it easier to automate and test cable devices and applications before going out into field trials. With this design goal in mind, DV-TIDE makes it easy for you to create and repeat identical test conditions on demand. You can also use it to automate a series of tests, address boundary and error conditions that cannot be tested with a production headend, and target individual test points for defect isolation.

Why buy DV-TIDE? DV-TIDE lets you test and demonstrate features that you could normally access only through a headend, even when you don't have access to a headend. If you don't have access to a headend, or if you have access to a headend, but would prefer to configure the headend for local test needs without affecting others, DV-TIDE is the answer.

DV-TIDE may also be right for you if you want to demonstrate your application or cable device at a tradeshow with limited headend availability.

Does DV-TIDE support SI delivery?

DV-TIDE's Service Information (SI) delivery is based on ISO 13818 and ATSC A/65 C. In addition, DV-TIDE supports EAS messaging based on SCTE 18.

Using DV-TIDE, you can insert dynamically generated or prepared (canned) data into the stream that is being broadcasted to your connected set-top box. You can also insert SCTE 65 tables either In-band or Out-of-Band. And, you can manipulate the MPEG-2 transport streams to better simulate conditions that you are trying to re-create.

Note: To deliver Out-of-Band SI/XAIT data, you will need a CMTS that is DSG capable.

How are applications signaled ?

DV-TIDE provides for both tru2way and ETV applications to be signaled to the attached cable device.

DV-TIDE uses an Application Information Table (AIT), which was defined by the DVB-MHP specification, as well as the eXtended Application Information Table (XAIT), which was defined in the tru2way (OCAP) specification.

DV-TIDE allows you to deliver both bound and unbound applications to a cable device. A bound application is delivered with an in-band service and is signaled with an AIT table in that service. Unbound applications are loaded out-of-band from the DV-TIDE web server and are signaled with an XAIT table sent via a DSG tunnel to the cable device.

ETV applications can also be delivered, including the EISS signaling and a data carousel containing the application resources. To run the ETV application , you will need to ensure that a User Agent is running on the cable device. The User Agent can be pre-loaded on the device or signaled as an unbound OCAP application.

Does DV-TIDE support VOD?

Yes, DV-TIDE supports the dynamic delivery of VOD streams over RF, and even provides trick play spport. The DV-TIDE system includes a VOD server and a configuration file that allow you to customize the assets used during playback.

DV-TIDE provides Session Setup Protocol (SSP) session set up and tear down with Lightweight Stream Control Protocol (LSCP) or Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP) client-to-server messaging for session management.

What kind of after sale support can I expect?
